How It Started
Hi! With this post, I want to kick off a new section on the website called Weekly Photo Challenge. Actually, this Photo Challenge started as an excuse to drag my friends out for a walk around the city, but somehow I figured it would be nice to document it somewhere other than our Telegram chat, plus it was high time to update the website anyway, so now I'm writing this post for whoever will end up reading it later.
Well, a little bit about the challenge. It’s pretty simple and has no restrictions. There are two conditions: choose a theme every week and shoot everything related to it, from Wednesday to Wednesday. At the end of the week, you need to make a photo selection. The challenge doesn't obligate you to anything, except for walking around the city and noticing things that previously slipped past your gaze.
First Week: Textures
Initially, I thought about focusing on city textures, which, basically, I managed to do by about 50 percent 🤔 Turns out, walking around the city on foot with the idea in your head to find some interesting interplay of textures, shadows, and objects is way more interesting than just logging your stupid 10k steps with headphones on. Then again, I only managed to catch some actual inspiration on sunny days, and there weren't all that many of those this past week. So I only picked out 9 frames, even though there are quite a bit more in the collection. I'm guessing that walking with a camera is pretty much like walking a dog - you never know what kind of thickets your curiosity will drag you into, hehehe
What's Next?
For the theme of the second week, I want to choose Autumn via ICM (Intentional Camera Movement), since this photography method is just incredible for conveying your impressions of something. Let's see how it turns out!
